Ground control has been receiving mysterious transmissions from the three remaining residents of the Solaris space station. Andrei Tarkovsky's vision of Stanislaw Lem's literary science fiction masterpiece is futuristic but remains grounded in the human experience. One cannot help but feel deeply for Kelvin and the emotional turmoil he experiences in a cruel no-win situation where objectivity becomes impossible. The cinematography is among the finest and most beautiful in the history of cinema.
