Something in the Air recounts director Olivier Assayasʼ impressions of the atmosphere in a Paris after the 1968 revolution. With Gilles, a young high school student, we experience the commitment of the politicalized youth, driven by a new found freedom and creative self-fulfillment. But we are also shown a generation that is torn between a radical commitment for the greater good, sometimes clashing with their personal ambitions. Gilles and his friendsʼ journeys take them to the centers of cultural life like Italy and London, trying to find answers through romantic encounters and cultural discoveries. But sooner or later they have to make definitive choices in order to find their places in these new turbulent times.
