Saul AuslÃĪnder is a member of the Sonderkommando, the Jewish prisoners forced to assist in the machinery of the Nazi concentration camps. While at work, he discovers the body of a boy he recognises as his son. As the Sonderkommando plan a rebellion, Saul vows to carry out an impossible task: to save the child's body from the flames and to find a rabbi to recite the mourner's Kaddish and offer the boy a proper burial. (Original Title - Saul fia) 2016 Curzon Artificial Eye.

This did not live up to its top billing. The main character remains stoic throughout even though he is forced into being a part of an industrial sized genocide. I didn't connect with him at all and I'm afraid to say I was bored as almost nothing happens .

The truth is worse than the fiction. I thought the storyline ruined the potential for showing what a truly horrific experience the sonderkommando experienced and as suvablech the story of the boy diverted from the truth

If you want a film that takes you up close and personal in the most grotesque and disturbing of events, events which are a historical fact, then I implore you to watch this. The current term 'immersive' is fashionable, this film is no gimmick...it takes you up close and personal to the point you are shoulder to shoulder, beyond voyeristic...don't look for emotional attachment this film seeks not that from you, it comes from within you. I said to my friend (Emy) Astonishing...Personal..deeply moving ...in not a good way...you feel helpless..void...static.
