とある遠い宇宙の星で平和に暮らしていたソニックは、ある日自分が持つ“スーパーパワー”を奪おうとする敵に狙われ、地球に逃げることに・・・。それから10年、ソニックは誰にも見つからないように、でも「仲間がほしい」と願いながら、さびしくひとりぼっちで暮らしていた。そこに地球征服をたくらむ悪の天才科学者ドクター・ロボトニックが現れ、ソニックは捕まりそうになってしまう。大ピンチの彼は、偶然出会った保安官トムに助けを求めるが・・・。誰も見たことのないスーパー・スピード・アドベンチャーの幕が上がる。
