SOUTHPAW tells the riveting story of Billy "The Great" Hope, reigning Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World. Billy Hope seemingly has it all with an impressive career, a beautiful and loving wife (Rachel McAdams), an adorable daughter (Oona Laurence) and a lavish lifestyle. When tragedy strikes and his lifelong manager and friend (Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson) leaves him behind, Hope hits rock bottom and turns to an unlikely saviour at a run-down local gym: Tick Willis (Forest Whitaker), a retired fighter and trainer to the city's toughest amateur boxers. This story could happen to any boxer or anyone if you put aside the boxing. All the right emotions and scenes in the right place and time. Advice for Hetro guys if you want to watch a movie with your Female partner she won't complain after the fist 10min to 15min seeing it's as it's unisex. If you read my name above, I'm a Female as it reads.

the only reason why I chose to watch this movie over everything else that was on offer was because of jake Gyllenhaal, at first glance i really didn't think much at all of it but saw jake Gyllenhaal was in it and that was enough for me... i still didn't have high expectations , but that all changed very quickly ... i found this movie to be one of my all time favorites.... jake Gyllenhaal plays the role brilliantly and i highly recommend this title .. OUTSTANDING FILM THIS,!!!

Full of cliches and plot holes. Didn't believe a single second. That said, Rachel McAdams saves this...for a while. Whitaker tries to freshen the plate, but it's all too rotten by that point.
