In the tradition of "Dreamgirls" comes this Cinderella story starring Grammy Award-winner Irene Cara ("Flashdance," "Fame"), Lonette McKee ("The Cotton Club") and Philip Michael Thomas ("Miami Vice"). Three sisters from Harlem form a singing group and try to make it big, taking a path marked by romance, tragedy and finally triumph. The chart-topping soundtrack features songs by legendary R&B artist Curtis Mayfield ("Superfly"), including "Jump," "Hooked on Your Love" and the smooth ballad "Giving Him Something He Can Feel," recently covered with great success by En Vogue. Screenplay by hit-maker Joel Schumacher ("Batman Forever," "The Client").

Reytinglar va sharhlar

One of my favorite films of all time. I grew up watching this movie with Mahogany following right afterwards! I loved the cast singing the original songs (not Aretha;Curtis Mayfield tried it). I miss old Ny and I miss how r&b and soul sounded in the 70s! I tried to watch the new one and it just didn't stick with me. The original has always left me touched. It just seems so realistic. Satin Struthers...smh The name says enough.

The 2012 remake doesn't hold a candle to the original. Lonette McKee's first film showed talent at its finest and for years to come!

As I sit here watching the remake on BET, I'm remembering my first film crush "Irene Cara" in the original movie. That was a special time as a kid as the family watched these amazing beautiful black people at the drive-in movie.
