Based on the Earl Hamner, Jr. novel which was later developed into the long-running television series,"The Waltons."

This is one of my two favorite movies. I can watch this and Love Story every day and never get tired. It is family oriented and shows what old family traditions were before the new concepts came about.

This is my favorite movie of all time. No monsters or murders. This movie fostered the tv show the waltons. A hard struggle to provide for his family but in a setting of beauty and a slower pace of life.
