Two stories in one. First - Who's the snitch? Second - What do you do once you find out who he is? Fun movie, ALMOST a comedy, but at its core, deadly serious. Totally engaging, don't let the fact it's a black and white film put you off, in fact it adds to the flavor. A Best Actor Oscar went to William Holden for his performance. Highly recommended.

William Holden is(was) an amazing actor, e co started with John Wayne in the movie The horse soldiers, Wayne,his commanding officer did not like him as a field surgeon but Holden's character soon proved invaluable,in Stalag 17 he did it as well if not better,busting Peter Graves as a Nazi plant, double agent,Bravo!!

First saw this movie with my father when I was 8, and it still is one of my favorite movies of all time for me now at 40! Love this movie!
