Σχετικά με αυτή την ταινία
A band of determined Russian soldiers fight to hold a strategic building in their devastated city against a ruthless German army, and in the process become deeply connected to a Russian woman who has been living there. In Stalingrad, directed by Fedor Bondarchuk, the scale of the battle contrasts dramatically with the human drama of the Russian soldiers, the few remaining civilians and their invaders into Stalingrad.

The movie in itself was quite enjoyable, featuring interesting nuanced battle scenes, interesting characters, and a good yet depressing (to some extent) plot. What really ruined the movie was the unprofessional, unbearable, and very unpleasant dubbing of the Russian characters. I would have much preferred the whole movie just subtitled everything and preserved the original dialogue. The movie, through the bad dubbing, just felt far from authentic, and, to some extent, ridiculous.

Let me put it to you very simply, this film is non historic, and plays a lot like the propaganda film Pearl Harbor. It's intention is for a younger generation in Russia to have a fascination with the war with the Nazi. The film is an utter failure of story telling, Russians behave like they have found Mary Poppins and do not attempt to rape her, because she is over the age of 18 and now an old widow. Propaganda at it's finest, the way the war never was.

Not close what the battle was it was horror, and all movies trivialize its no Schindler lists. There's one I saw I Enemy at the Gates has great actors that at time where not that well known. was ok about Russian sniper I believe it somewhat historical but they took liberties in that a well
