Sounds great, but due to lots of issues (some beyond directorSHATNER's control)the execution of the story suffered.Poor effects(regulars ILM were not available),poor script(a strike) and budget constraints(the studio's fault), this is the weakest of Star Trek movies.Still good to see the old gang again though! A great score, some great action scenes and a new character with a family secret, this is still worth a watch..but is a somewhat disappointing ride, that never seems to pay off.

Not sure what it is about this film but I've never been a fan and don't think I ever will. It's still a Trek but it just suffered from too many flaws and at its release it was overshadowed by the quality of TNG.

Easily the worst film of the series. The plot is so silly and full of holes it hurts. Only saving grace is the way it explores and builds the Kirk/Spock/Bones relationship and friendship.
