À propos de ce film

Eric (Jack O'Connell) is a violent young offender, prematurely thrown into the dark world of an adult prison. As he struggles to assert himself against the prison officers and the other inmates, he has to confront his own father, Nev (Ben Mendelsohn); a man who has spent most of his life in jail. As Eric forges allegiances with other prisoners, he learns that his rage can be overcome and discovers the new rules of survival. But there are forces at work which threaten to destroy him.

Excellent movie but extremely hard to watch in places. More realistic than most prison films, probably because it's a British movie. There's no glossy look to it, it's very much a stark contrast to the slickly styled films about prison life that come out of the US. It's grim, brutal & dark - there's little hope of redemption for the protagonist & we can't help but feel some sympathy for his predicament.. which is credited to superb acting from the wonderful Jack O'Connell.

Gritty prison dramas are again de rigeur following the success of The Prophet and Starred Up is at least as down and dirty. The direction is claustrophobia-inducing and made me feel part of the action. Very well done and highly recommended.

It was just so obvious and predictable.. the movie had a great opportunity to show what life inside a British prison is like, but failed miserably. So if you like all the soaps and the xfactor well then this movie should be for you
