DOCTOR SLEEP DIRECTOR'S CUT, con scene nuove e alternative/estese non presenti al cinema. “Doctor Sleep” è il prosieguo della storia di Danny Torrance 40 anni dopo i terrificanti eventi di Shining di Stephen King. Ancora segnato dal trauma vissuto da bambino all’Overlook, Dan Torrance ha combattuto per trovare la sua pace. Ma quella pace viene distrutta quando incontra Andrea, una coraggiosa teenager con un dono potente, chiamato “luccicanza”. Avendo riconosciuto istintivamente che Dan condivide il suo potere, Andrea l’ha cercato per chiedere il suo aiuto contro la spietata Rose Cilindro ed i suoi seguaci, il Vero Nodo. Formando un’alleanza improbabile, Dan e Andrea si lanciano in un brutale scontro mortale con Rose. L’innocenza di Andrea e il modo in cui accetta senza paura la sua luccicanza spingono Dan a usare i suoi poteri come mai prima, facendo risvegliare le sue paure ed obbligandolo ad affrontare i fantasmi del passato.

Valutazioni e recensioni

I missed it in the theaters and ended up buying the director's cut. So not sure what was cut but to my surprise this version has a lot of the Shining revisited and explored. Took a day to process but definitely loved it. Interesting story and characters, plus the soundtrack, mystery and horror kept me glued. Flanagan clearly a big fan, does a good job continuing the story to please both Kubrick and King fans.

I have to admit that I was less than enthusiastic when I learned about a sequel to The Shining. What could Stephen King possibly add to that story? Right? So wrong. I was absolutely blown away by the theatrical version of Doctor Sleep and if I were to choose 3 words to describe it: Genius, brilliant, perfect. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, and Kyliegh Curran are excellent. Mike Flanagan did something really amazing here! You wouldn't want to miss this!

An absolute masterpiece, well worth waiting 40 years for! Mike Flanagan has once again proven he can take almost any source material and easily translate it to the screen so seamlessly, it's like it took him no effort at all. Incredible performances, doesn't detract from the original story, expands on its lore, pays minimal homage to the Kubrick adaptation (which Stephen King absolutely hated!) but here, I think Mr. King is so proud of the people who have been adapting his works recently!
