About this movie

Julia Roberts portrays Isabel, a career-minded photographer forced into the role of unwelcome stepmother to her boyfriend Luke's (Ed Harris) two children - 12-year-old Anna (Jena Malone) and 7-year-old Ben (Liam Aiken). Her efforts to earn their love and respect are complicated by Jackie (Susan Sarandon), Luke's ex-wife and the kids' fiercely devoted mother, who resents Isabel's intrusion. When Jackie discovers she has a terminal illness, the two strong-willed, independent women are forced to find a way to connect. Realizing they must put aside their differences, the two women find that their love for the children is more than just common ground. Eventually they discover how to accept each other in order to live life to the fullest, while they have the chance. 1998 Global Entertainment Productions GmbH & Co. Film KG and SPE German Finance Co. Perfect. The critics don't understand why this movie is everything. Christmas? Parents? Children? Julia Roberts or Susan Sarandon? Look no further. This is a killer movie with every ingredient to make your heart melt. It's the kind of movie that mainstream audiences can fully embrace and critics will jump off of a cliff for because they are incapable of understanding its brilliance. Pearl Jam? Snow-blowing?! Blended families learning to understand and appreciate each other? Stepmom. THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS MOVIE. Thank you to all involved.

I love this movie. I went to see that movie in 1998 when I was in the third grade in elementary school. It is one of my favourite movies since I was 9 years old.
