About this movie

At age 19, Kevin Hines attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. Seventeen years later, he still struggles with many of the same symptoms that led him to attempt to take his life, but he is on a mission to use his story to help others stay alive. Kevin has also been one of the key catalysts in helping end a nearly 80-year long fight to construct suicide prevention net on the iconic San Francisco bridge. Kevin takes a journey to better understand the ripple effects his suicide attempt had on his family, friends, and the first responders who helped save him. He's also working to shine light on inspirational individuals, families, and organizations who are using personal pain to help others find the hope they need to heal.

This movie exposes the drive to commit suicide as it truly is: it is a drive just like any other drive for a fix. The fact that many people express the remorse for their action immediately after they literally "let go" of life and choose death demonstrates that the human spirit wants to live; it just wants to live pain-free. While it is vital that this message continues to resound around the world for adults and teens, it s just as vital that we begin to train students ages 8 to 11 about emotions and how our brains work so that as they grow into the higher risk age of tween and teen; they recognize that suicide is NOT a solution; but rather an alarm going off in your head that you need to reach out for help. That way the downward spiral can be stopped before it begins. Suicide is not a spur of the moment snap decision, ever! It is always the result of contemplating it over time until the drive gains so much strength it pushes the victim just like the drive for a fix of a powerful drug. I'll be recommending this movie to everyone I talk to. It will go on my website; my Facebook; and LinkedIn.

This movie is a precious gift. I've heard Kevin Hines speak before and always thought he was terrific. I'm so glad this movie was made so his hopeful message can go out to more and more people. Thank you Kevin and all of the producers who made this movie happen.
