No amount of eye candy can hide the fact this film is predictable and unsatisfying. If you're scientifically minded, you may enjoy picking holes in the far fetched and uninspiring story, but the impossibility of the many scientific concepts will most likely annoy the hell out of you, making it quite difficult to enjoy sitting through it. Added to that are some pretty cheap tricks to build suspense such as white noise and subliminal images. One twist, seen it coming a mile off, Ending was disappointing.

Yes you could say not enough action if that was what you wanted but you'd be missing the point. There's a dynamic throughout this film that brings each character into play without being forced. The journey and the goal is a back drop to some stunning sequences that at first watch keep you glued all the way through to a plausible outcome. Wonderful imagery with great soundtrack to make a great film. One of the better sci fis of late even Arthur C Clarke would've approved.

Except for the whole lost radio contact past Mercury (that we could do in the '70s) thing. I understand it was for the dramatic effect of isolation but so close!
