Impossible to tell the "Death of Superman" story in 1 movie & do it justice, even if you ended it at the Death of Superman.. If you've read & loved the original Death of Superman comic book series (Starting with Superman: Man of Steel #17) or graphic novel, you might want to skip this movie completely. I hate what the screen writers have done an incredible story & one of the most epic battles in DC history. Doomsday crash landed on Earth in a metal burial casket & was suited and shackled. However, the crash allowed him to get 1 arm free & break out of the casket. JLA assembled to stop him, but he defeated nearly the entire JLA while still trapped in the suit & shackles with only the 1 arm free. Additionally, as Superman damaged or hurt Doomsday, his body would grow super strong bone like armor to protect himself. Also most of the battle with Doomsday takes place outside of Metropolis in the original storyline, though Superman does eventually kill Doomsday in front of the Daily Planet. The battle in the comics took a very long time & should have been at least twice as long as it was. Also, Lex Luthor had nothing to do with this story line in the comics.

I have not read the associated comic book. I understand that by comparison, maybe this movie doesn't hold up as well. As a standalone film, it is quite enjoyable. Superman is brave and likeable. Doomsday’s unkillable demonic presence is despairing. The showdown between them has real weight. Lois Lane has too much plot armor at times but great experience overall.

Where they have failed. On the big screen the animation departments flourish with the DC properties. As long as Kevin Conroy voices Bruce Wayne and Batman and they respect the guidelines to tello g a story that Bruce Timm pioneered in the animated batman series these are wonderful films in their own right. Doomsday Is well done .
