Kind of regretted the mere $4 for renting this film after watching it and pressing fast forward numerous times. I recall enjoying it on TV with older brothers and father who loved James Garner (as I do/did). This was when I was in my early teens (in the early 1970s). The actress who plays the female interest, seems to have done a poor job and/or it's the role itself. I found everything about their interactions to be overly contrived (and stupid) and both seem to be "phoning it in". I spent all my time pressing fast-forward 10 secs, ALL through their scenes (except the ending but just kept it on MUTE). I can put up with the Western nonsense here.. hooky is a nice but it wears thin very quickly. This movie is barely OK now a days.. probably much less.. but fond memories are hard to give up. Caveat emptor.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I quote from it all the time. If you like westerns, but like comedy more, then this is a great show for you. All the leads are strong. James Garner is at his best...cool, collected and clever. Today I watched it for about the 5th time, and I STILL think it's great. Support Your Local Sheriff does just what I want a movie to do: provide a good distraction, make me smile and laugh, and leave me with a good feeling at the end of the show. It's definitely worth your time!
