This one tries to up the humor quotient and character-centered story a la Pixar instead of just the market-driven, merchandise-tie-in kids movie. It doesn't quite get up to level of a Pixar classic but it is a lot of fun and much better produced than your ordinary CGI animated dreck. The premise itself separates it from the dozen or so animated films that come out on a regular basis these days: it is told like a documentary on the subject (of all things) of penguin surfing. Not Another Penguin Movie, it uses its excellent cast very well (anybody remember TV's The Searcher? Hear if you can spot him) and the animation is perfect (amazing how we take that kind of thing for granted these days; thanks again to Pixar). The story won't surprise you but it is enjoyable nonetheless; again they've gone for the more character-driven movie instead of the toilet humor and audience pleasing junk of today's kids movie. Don't get me wrong, we're not talking major leaps here but it is refreshing to get an animated movie that is as enjoyable as Pixar's standards without the Pixar.

I didn't want to see this movie @ first. But now, my husband and I watch it more than our 6 kids! Lol!

Freakin awsome, still remembered when I saw in theatre when I was younger. My 2nd favorite animated movie
