In Guy Ritchie's remake of Lina Wertmuller's deliciously controversial 1975 Italian comedy, Amber (Madonna) is 40, beautiful, rich, spoiled and arrogant beyond measure. Her wealthy but passive husband (Bruce Greenwood) takes her on a private cruise from Greece to Italy, but she loses it when the sleek yacht she was expecting is actually a Greek fishing boat; a disappointment vented upon the ship's first mate, Giuseppe (Adriano Giannini). After she demands that he take her on an outing in the launch, the boat's motor fails and they drift for two days before being shipwrecked on a deserted island. Suddenly, the rules have changed. To her horror, Amber is now completely dependent on Giuseppe, and he takes full advantage. The result is a hilarious role reversal, with a conclusion that neither sees coming. © 2002 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
