This feels like 2 movies in one. 3/4 of the movie is much like you might think it to be, it doesn't try and recapture anything. Yet nostalgia does creep in. Rather than recapture the first, there are a lot of "nods" to it cleverly inserted in the lines. And moments where you feel it. It has allowed itself to move on though. Some might be disappointed...a: because they were always going to be. b: it does shift away from the original ending. the redemption of the first film is kind of lost here. BUT thats what makes it feel more real. It does carry on with the business of telling life how it is. Not how we want it to be. Some great moments in this film i loved it. But i did feel the last 25 minutes were more of a hollywood story tacked on to it. But i didn't mind. There was always going to be trouble getting this film right. in my opinion they did the best job they could. To the point where it is a film that holds merit of it's own. Being the sequel only adds to it's weight. Which is a nice change of pace from other sequels. You could do FAR worse than give yourself time to watch this, with an open mind. I loved it.

This was an attempt at creating a sequel of a classic movie. But this isn't even close to the original. I know time has passed and the world is a different place. It was a case of either don't go there or make a great film. Unfortunately this isn't a great film it's just nostalgic dropping a few hints to the first movie. I've watched it twice now to give it a chance and some bits are great but most of it is just a bit dull I'm sorry to say. I wanted to love this film I really did. Either I've changed from the 90's or this isn't as good as I hoped it was going to be...

A return to form for the cast, slipping back into character like wearing an old pair of shoes. Not as hard-hitting as the original but a decent update, bring Renton and co into the 21st century.
