Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions, Curtis LaForche, a young husband and father, questions whether to shelter his family from a coming storm, or from himself. As he tries desperately to stay sane, his obsessive actions become ever more erratic, placing his livelihood, his marriage and eventually his health in jeopardy. But the question remains are Curtis' apparitions real? Or is he beginning to follow a past family member down the road to mental illness? Beautifully shot, and led by extraordinary, powerhouse performances from Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) and Jessica Chastain (The Help), Take Shelter is one of the most magnificent and mesmerizing thrillers of recent years!

I enjoyed this. The lead played very well. Also very well written. The whole theme of him having the "visions" was a nice change from constant carnage you would see in similar films. Ending could have done with being a bit longer! Imagination ran wild throughout.

Brilliant film and quite suspenseful at times too. I love it when dreams you have come to life and you're left thinking how did that happen. So yes Take Shelter was brill with some great acting too. Sweet Dreams Folks!

Powerful acting in this gripping movie. Like Jack Daniel's Whiskey you have to sit back and enjoy the flavour of this movie. It takes its time to show you a real life family that lives in America's Tornado lands. One man's love for his wife and daughter is what helps him get through this crisis in his life. Are his visions premonition or early symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia, an illness that struck his mother at the same age he is at now? Questions that he is afraid to ignore and the answers to which he cannot trust. His visions test the limits of his love, his wife's and his daughters love. He is doubted by one and all to be a mad man or is the truth more scary? The viewer will have to savour the taste of the very real movie which is a quite refreshing experience to the usual garbage that Hollywood churns out by the skip day after day. A must watch movie.
