About this movie

Vadivelu returns as "Jagajala Pujabala Tenaliraman" who is playing a dual role as King Maamannar and his minister. The film is a fictionalized, satirical story of a kingdom in 15th century AD, in which the King is trying to support the welfare of his people. Through this journey, he is being wrongly advised and is under the impression that his people are happy. His nine ministers are the Navarathnams (nine jewels) of the court. The king has 36 wives and 52 children. His council of ministers make a trade pact with the Chinese which is an indirect conspiracy against the kingdom. Tenaliraman, a revolutionist, comes to the rescue. He hears about the true intent of the ministers and steps in to curb their plot. In the meantime, Tenaliraman and Princess Madhulai fall in love, which spins the story into additional twists. (CBFC U CIL/1/01/2014-CHE)

It's a story akin to the Prince and Pauper. A good comedy. The performance of Vadivelu is inimitable.
