Love arrives with a splash when a handsome and eligible tycoon (Grant) and a beautiful working woman (Day) meet over a curbside mud puddle. He's enchanted by her small town ways; she's captivated by his romantic, debonair manner. But when it comes to marriage, they have decidedly different views -- she wants it and he doesn't! What ensues is a game of cat-and-mouse as each tries to win the other -- with hilarious and heartwarming results.

In my opinion, this is the movie that BEGAN the genre of romantic comedy as we know it today. Since the beginning of Motion Pictures, if a script was about any love story...producers and studios always felt the need to either make love stories into melodrama, or throw them in as afterthoughts. What makes the Rom Com special is that it is entirely meant to appeal to women as its audience and yet be palatable to the males paying for the tickets. Doris Day's character doesn't sing or dance her way into Grant's life, she isn't given lines written to be the male lead's sparring partner (think Spencer and Tracy). This movie was probably one of the first that left women leaving a movie thinking it could have been about them. She didn't always wear the perfect outfit, she wasn't trying to compete with him in a man's world, and she had traditional values without coming off as a rube or weak. The funniest moments are Doris doing very average things like being mad and tripping over her words, getting embarrassed by what people might think, and talking like a teenager to her friend about a boy. If you are a fan of Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock, this is classic cinema you will <3

โ€œThat Touch of Minkโ€ is my favorite Doris Day movie! Cary Grant brought a sex appeal to the film that broadened Doris Dayโ€™s character to be really vulnerable As a woman. The supporting cast with Gig Young, Audrey Meadows and John Astin all gave great performances.
