The Addams Family is a satirical inversion of the ideal American family; an eccentric, wealthy clan who delight in the macabre and are unaware that people find them bizarre or frightening. They originally appeared as an unrelated group of 150 single panel cartoons by Addams, about half of which were originally published in The New Yorker between debuting in 1938 and Addams' 1988 death. They have since been adapted to other media, including the well-known television series, a series of live-action films, and most recently a Broadway musical.

Spoilers! The movie is nice to see once (perhaps with kids), and then never again. Some of the jokes were ok, and it started out nice, which got my hopes up. Sadly, it ended up with the whole 'its okay to be unique, don't be like anyone else' which was quickly followed with 'look, all teenagers are always on their phone hahaha' and 'social media bad' and so on and so forth, which is sad because I loved the original Addams Family. I believe I could sum the review up with: "Ok Boomer"

I’ve never found The Addams Family laugh out loud hilarious, but I get the creepy craic. This new film is consistently amusing, beautifully animated, has a stunning starry cast providing the voices and had me giggling throughout... For more, see the full review: bit.ly/Addams2019

Not a fan of the animation style but it was acceptable and the humour was 'Addams' so all in all not a bad effort. Worth a look.
