he film is set during World War I and follows the unlikely partnership between Charlie Allnut (Humphrey Bogart), a rough and unrefined boat captain, and Rose Sayer (Katharine Hepburn), a prim and proper missionary’s sister. When their lives are upended by the war and Rose's brother's death, the two embark on a perilous journey down the African river in a dilapidated boat, "The African Queen," with the aim of attacking a German warship.

Coloring books have more plot than this movie. The characters are shallow, sheltered, unrealistic, and excruciatingly annoying. It did not age well. Unless it's nostalgic, rent something else.

It occurred to me that I have been watching this movie for over 50 years. It never gets old. It has adventure, romance, and a great plot that leads to an uplifting ending. Good stuff.
