Watched this movie and was inspired to go beyound the faults defined by man,to look to the heavens wence cometh our help knowing despite the obstacles that appear before us even sometimes brought by ourselves.If we only seek the kingdom of god first and his righteouness,that he Will add all other things we are in need of.

Robert Duvall is just unbeatable as the bible belt preacher with a dark cloud hanging over his head. It's easy to forget what a captivating actor the guy is. The movie is just dripping with authentic southern atmosphere.It's almost a throwback movie to an earlier time in american filmmaking and is without doubt a contemporary classic. Don't miss it.

I've loved this movie for many years! Robert Duvall does a spectacular job! The love of God in Christ Jesus is REAL and powerful!!! The Bible says that "The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit"....and God loves "a broken (repentant) and contrite heart". We fall down~but we get UP! This character shows a great example of Christ's finished work on the Cross: that sin and death have been defeated and can only bind us if we allow them to!
