The Australian Dream is a documentary that uses the remarkable and inspirational story of Indigenous AFL legend Adam Goodes as the prism through which to tell a deeper and more powerful story about race, identity and belonging. The film will unpick the events of the 2013-15 AFL seasons and ask fundamental questions about the nature of racism and discrimination in society today. Walkley award-winning writer Stan Grant and BAFTA award-winning director Daniel Gordon join forces to tell this remarkable story of one of the most decorated and celebrated players in AFL history. A man who remains a cultural hero; the very epitome of resilience and survival, who continues to fight for equality and reconciliation.

This should be mandatory viewing for all Australians. It tells of a shameful chapter in Australia's history that some elements of society would prefer to ignore and hope it will go away. This sort of atrocious behaviour will not stop unless all right-minded Australians fight against it. This film is a telling insight into racism in mainstream Australia. Even more telling are the negative reviews from those who seek to perpetuate the racism or paint it as a non-issue by promoting ignorance. Sadly, these are the sort of people react aggressively and negatively when they are called out on their racist, hate-filled agendas.

This gronk makes a fortune, marries a white woman, lives the life of a lord, and then gets to be a victim when he's playing god damn football of all things. This is just a fake doco, a fake person, and a fake issue. The real doco should be about the young girl he traumatized for simply engaging in spectator behaviour. Spit on him if you are ever unfortunate enough to cross his majesty's path.
