About this movie

From the imaginations of two of the world’s greatest storytellers, Roald Dahl and Steven Spielberg, THE BFG tells the extraordinary tale of a young girl named Sophie (played by British newcomer Ruby Barnhill) and the Big Friendly Giant (played by Oscar Winner Mark Rylance) who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. Together they embark on a marvellous and buckswhashling adventure filled with snozzcumbers, dream jars, frobscottle and even the Queen! The mismatched pair form an unlikely friendship that will inspire enormous bravery in the BFG and give Sophie a taste of the family she dreams of. 2016 STORYTELLER DISTRIBUTION CO., LLC

Great special effects and very close to the story...however as I used to read this over and over again as a child it is somewhat disappointing and flagged a bit. Also the BFG is somehow made out to be dimwitted and stupid just because he has a funny way of speaking which kind of frustrated me at times and the subplot with the little boy is a mistake.

If you loved the book, you'll love the film because it's faithful and the magic of the BFG's spirit is captured well. For those who haven't read the book, the movie could feel like it's lacking any real punch. Enjoy it's kindness.

The acting from the girl who plays Sophie in this film is dreadful. The storyline follows the book but this film was a real let down for the acting and didn't think much to the directing - very surprised that this is Spielberg.
