Academy Award-winner Kirk Douglas ("Lust for Life," "Gunfight at O.K. Corral") stars in this drama about the life of an ambitious Hollywood producer, as seen through the eyes of a writer, a director, and an actress. Nominated for six Oscars, it won five, including Best Screenplay. Douglas was nominated for Best Actor. Gloria Grahame ("Oklahoma!," "Crossfire") received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Lana Turner ("Peyton Place," "The Postman Always Rings Twice") delivers what many consider to be her finest performance as Douglas' actress lover. With Oscar-nominee Walter Pidgeon ("Mrs. Miniver," "Forbidden Planet"). Directed by Academy Award-winner Vincente Minnelli ("Gigi," "An American in Paris ").
