Nominated for six Oscars, it won five, including Best Screenplay. Douglas was nominated for Best Actor. Gloria Grahame ("Oklahoma!," "Crossfire") received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Lana Turner ("Peyton Place," "The Postman Always Rings Twice") delivers what many consider to be her finest performance as Douglas' actress lover.
