When a brave young pilot enjoys a one-night fling with a New York nightclub singer, he never dreams that their mutual attraction will lead to fame for himself, his crew and the chanteuse now known as The Bamboo Blonde.World War II. Lieutenant Pat Ransom, Jr. (Russell Wade) has only a photograph of singer Louise Anderson (Frances Langford) to remind him of the night they shared. His crew members use the photo to paint Anderson's likeness on the nose of their plane, but not knowing her name, they dub her the Bamboo Blonde. And when Ransom and his crew rocket to fame as flying aces and war heroes, the nightclub singer painted on their craft becomes a celebrity back home. But, after victory in the Pacific, will the one night they shared blossom into romance for the now-famous Ransom and The Bamboo Blonde? Based on the story "Chicago Lulu" by Wayne Whittaker.
