Walter, once a successful and happy family man, has hit rock bottom. He withdraws into himself away from his job, friends, and family. After a failed suicide, he finds a rather unusual savior in the form of a beaver hand-puppet. Walter learns that he can speak through the persona of the puppet. Unable to engage directly with the world, Walter's life begins to change for the better when the beaver does the talking. Academy Award winner Jodie Foster directs and co- stars with Academy Award winner Mel Gibson in a film critics call "bold", "complex" and "funny."
