This film presented a fascinating look at the genesis of the great recession from the inside looking out. It uses some clever cinematic gimicks to help keep the dry material engaging. The cast, especially Steve Carrell was amazing. Brad Pitt's performance was so understated that you hardly even realize it is Brad Pitt. If you want to understand why the great recession happened and you don't want to watch a PBS documentary, the I definitely recommend The Big Short.

It teaches us all about finance the crooks on Wallstreet, & our Banking was using. & the system was so currupt, they almost wiped out our entire way of life! Because they lied, cheated, & stole too make more money, off of our money, that they were investing without our permission! & that they were selling these morgages, that were all lumped together, but we're not rated properly! & were giving people home loans for houses, who couldn't afford too have obne! (Ninja Loans) & brought this Country 2 it's knees

Why was this movie made? This could've been conveyed in a half hour documentary without paying Ryan Gosling ten million dollars. Felt like an attempt @ wolf of wall street coat tails but not interesting enough so they streeeeetched it out and tried to be clever the whole time. This should've just been a special on msnbc or something not a whole multi million dollar waste of time. I agree with the review that said the style felt out of place. It felt like they were trying to hard.
