Based on the real-life courtship between Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, THE BIG SICK tells the story of aspiring comedian Kumail (Nanjiani), who connects with grad student Emily (Kazan) after his standup set. What they thought would be a one-night stand blossoms into the real thing, which complicates life when Emily is beset with a mystery illness. Kumail is forced to navigate the medical crisis with her parents, who he's never met, and the tug-of-war between his family and his heart.

I didn't expect much of this movie going into it. The trailer was cute enough, but I figured it'd be a decent way to kill two hours. Boy was I wrong. It was filled with just as much laughter as there was heart. It was a very sweet movie that I know my wife and I will watch over and over again!

this movie flat out sucks I don't know what the reviewers are seeing. yes I know hes from Pakistan they say it 1000x in it

Great little movie. A little slow in 2nd act. Humor was hilarious. Great cast. Holly Hunter was fantastic.
