In this period thriller based on James Ellroy's novel, Los Angeles cops Bucky Bleichert (Josh Hartnett) and Lee Blanchard (Aaron Eckhart) uncover corruption and conspiracy within the force while searching for the killer of Tinseltown hopeful Elizabeth Short (Mia Kirshner). After reading everything I have been able to about the Black Dahlia, and listening to the FBI tapes available through the FOI Act, I can say that this movie--and this pathetic book, based entirely on the author's fantasies--is not about the Black Dahlia. In addition to that set of factual tidbits, it would be nice if Kodak could have its film back. Unwatchable.

The protaganist's investigation of a ghastly murder results in disillusionment & despair.
