The movie that started the 'found footage' genre. The premise is clever and the marketing campaign was pure genius. This old school suspense horror requires the viewer to put some effort in to get the best out of it, so if you are expecting lazy, formulaic storytelling & a multi-million dollar SFX budget then you have come to the wrong house...

How dare they call this a horror about stupid people running around in the dark in the woods. You see nothing and they dont have any unexpected thrill. Flush this down the toilet would make this obsolete. 100% boring DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS

I didn't see the early internet's, no idea about the hype it caused. Found a new appreciation for this film when I rewatched it recently...if people don't get it - just watch on a dark rainy night with just one candle on then go find a forest & take a walk. It's absolutely f terrifying!!
