The Boy and the Beast tells the story of Kyuta, a young orphan boy living on the streets. One day, Kyuta loses his way and stumbles into the world of beasts, where he meets Kumatetsu, a warrior beast in search of the perfect apprentice. Kyuta becomes his disciple and, after a stormy beginning, the pair forms a deep bond. But when a dark force threatens both worlds, their chance encounter becomes the ultimate test of strength, courage and friendship. From award-winning Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children) and with a beautiful, seamless mix of classic hand-drawn animation and CGI, The Boy and the Beast is a heart-warming coming-of-age action fantasy tale that goes beyond your imagination.

It's definitely a fun watch, but I can't say anything stood out for me in particular. Maybe the fight scenes and the bond between formed between the two leads. Which pays off well at the end of the movie.

A really lovely movie. Thankfully it has its Japanese audio intact (I wish I could say the same about other anime and Japanese media available to purchase on Play). Wonderful concept, endearing characters and splendid direction.

How to get past sudden loss and being all alone in your heart? There's no quick answer, that's why this full feature creation is quite a bit longer than typical and still feels a tad rushed at places. Good laughs, good tears and heart warming feeling at the end guaranteed!
