Based on the life of the late rock singer, Buddy Holly, who died in a plane crash in 1959 at the age of 22. The story spans the years, from Holly's youth in Lubbock to his death. Busey did all his own singing and playing, as did Martin and Stroud as The Crickets, providing a sense of realism to the film. It's a good movie but they have some major parts of the story mixed up. The name of the band members are wrong and other details like that.
