Par šo filmu

Fiona Maye (Thompson) is an eminent High Court judge in London presiding with wisdom and compassion over ethically complex cases of family law. But she has paid a heavy personal price for her workload, and her marriage to American professor Jack (Tucci) is at breaking-point. In this moment of personal crisis, Fiona is asked to rule on the case of Adam (Whitehead), a brilliant boy who is refusing the blood transfusion which will save his life. Adam is three months from his 18th birthday and still legally a child. Should Fiona force him to live? Fiona visits Adam in hospital and their meeting has a profound emotional impact on them both, stirring strong new emotions in the boy and long‐buried feelings in her.

I thought this would be an interesting portrayal of courtroom drama. However it centred on a teenager having a crush on the judge, who sends him away twice, but on the 2nd time she's kissing him - her behaviour is plain weird and not believable. A woman in her 50s or 60s falls in love with a teenager from having a short conversation with him, and receiving his letters is just not credible. There is no explanation of her emotional state that could have led to such a disastrous choice for a mature woman. So if you're after good courtroom drama this isn't the movie for you. The plot is weak overall and left a lot to be desired.

An excellent portrayal of how education and the justice/legal system has no concept of morality, emotion or spirituality. A profound movie.
