Chris Pine stars in the action-packed thriller as Special Forces Sergeant James Harper, who is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut-off from his pension. In debt, out of options and desperate to provide for his family, Harper contracts with a private underground military force. When the very first assignment goes awry, the elite soldier finds himself hunted and on the run, caught in a dangerous conspiracy and fighting to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of those who betrayed him. Also starring Kiefer Sutherland, Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs and Eddie Marsan.

Not great. It vascillates between decent action and slow meandering plot. Some smart dialogue coupled with some really dumb scenarios like Pine giving blood to his ops team partner and his friend magically recovers from being shot. Or the scientist working with terrorist money backing an "H1N1" vaccine. Right. Or Pine's friend walking right into the line of fire in a pivotal shoot-out. Pine and Co are convincing actors. Just not the best.

The acting was subpar, story was predictable and the scenes were poorly filmed. For an action thriller, the action was underwhelming. I do not recommend paying full price for this film, just wait and rip it off a site or something.

An instant classic and a very current one at that! One of the best hard, realistic films in film history. Outstanding tradecraft in all areas from script to all areas of implementation. Intentionally underrated! Misunderstood by Instagram/meta teens.
