First thing - this was never going to be the epic triumph that was The Dark Knight. Bane is not as engaging a villain as the Joker, and Anne Hathaway is totally miscast as Catwoman. Bale's Batman is also very bland. The story itself is meandering and at times pointless, and the rehash of the "Gotham must be purged of its sins" element is beyond tedious. What the film does deliver, however, is a brooding atmosphere and decent action sequences.

Rubbish end to a good franchise. I really loathed that robin knew batman was batman just cos he saw bruce facial expression once, dumbest excuse ever! Catwoman was rubbish, her fighting skills weren't impressive at all and the most irritating skill she had was to narrate whilst fighting. I liked Bane, but ye went out like a bitch, a real pathetic death scene for him. Overall a very disappointing film.

This was Nolan's chance to cement himself into the history books of cinema. Instead he followed the formula of Hollywood - and shame on him. Our story is not like the other two. This one has no credibility or believability in the action sequences. Batman just seems to jump back to the eighties and becomes indestructible like Schwarzenegger or Stallone. That's a sell out to the first two. This story didn't deserve to end well. Batman is a tragic hero - always destined to lose the ones he loves or drive them away because of the choices he makes. This is a Hollywood ending and it really was a slap in the face. Bane breaks the bat. Then a new bat is initiated in the comic book saga. It was a better storyline and could have made another solid movie or two with Bale having a minimal involvement. I was just disappointed by the whole thing. The dark knight was a high point and remained anchored to traditional batman values. Anyone who gave this higher than a 3 needs to take another look.
