Dr. Jennifer Stillman (Kinski) is a New York City therapist who takes a job as an elementary school psychiatrist in the rural town of Sierra Vista, Nevada. Her presence is greeted with a collective cold shoulder and it soon becomes clear that this backward little town has a deep, dark secret that its inhabitants are determined to keep buried.
