Based on Frederick Forsyth's best-selling novel of political intrigue, The Day of the Jackal, tells of a cold, suave British assassin hired by the French OAS to kill General Charles de Gaulle. Nameless and faceless, the killer, known by the code name of Jackal (Edward Fox), relentlessly moves toward the date with death that would rock the world. The tension mounts as the methodical preparations of the Jackal are paralleled with the efforts of the police to uncover the plot, which gives the story non-stop, edge-of-your-seat suspense.

RT 90%. Must be pos film. Said to make point of rating by me is pos accurate as RT scores. Keep it up RT, you're Right being Wrong 90%+ of time. Cannot Perceive Why Anyone Would Publish RT Scores in Film sales/rental catalogs/listings. Films' Producers & SAG-AFTRA Should Prosecute RT on the Premises of Derogatory Statements With Malice Intent. Great movie. Based on actual facts of the attempted assassination of Charles de Gaulle by an unknown untraceable assailant. Edward Fox does a remarkable job and shows off his acting skills, athletic skills, romantic skills and above all his ability to become different personalities and people as the movie progresses to the final showdown and his own demise. Outstanding acting by the other actors as well, it is a tribute to first rate acting, first rate directing, first rate story telling.

Great movie with intensity as international police try to keep up with the Jackal, figure out his plot and stop him. Highly recommended.
