Writer and Director Barney Elliott elevates the playing field for summer movies with a subtly complex multi-narrative film that is simply about a debt. The film follows Oliver, played by Stephen Dorff, a New York banking financier who is attempting to close a deal for a piece of land in possession of a the Native Peruvian community, who are not budging to hand their land over to to be corrupted. What Elliott has over other films is his multi-narrative storytelling structure, which allows the audience to follow 3 different stories that become interwoven, straight on a collision course for each other. Brilliant performances and excellent writing make this a must watch this summer.
