The Dressmaker tells the story of the beautiful and talented Tilly Dunnage (Academy-Award winner Kate Winslet). After years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses, Tilly returns home to a town in the Australian outback to reconcile with her eccentric mother Molly (Academy-Award nominee Judy Davis). It's a very confused film. It tried to do far too much. There were beautiful scenes and fleeting moments of laugh out loud material however there was little in the way of a story to hold it all together.

Kate winslet is amazing in this dramatic performance. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film and will be going in my top ten films. Genuinely wish I had bought this rather than renting it! Definitely recommended

I loved this film and so did my partner who surprisingly sat through the whole film although he was sceptical of the title. Wonderful casting which really bought the characters to life, interesting twists and turns. I laughed, I cried and very much enjoyed it. Wish there were more original films made like this.
