A phenomenal cast, including Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini, lead this gritty thriller about bartender Bob Saginowski (Hardy) and his hardened employer Cousin Marv (Gandolfini) who must choose between survival and loyalty when they find themselves caught in a robbery gone bad, and on the hook for a mob debt they can’t repay.

I liked this film. The cast was terrific, with great performances all around. Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace are two of my favorite actors, and Matthias Schoenaerts as Eric Deeds is quietly terrifying. The film is very subdued, dark and atmospheric, but this doesn't mean it is boring. The tension builds and builds and builds, and the denouement is VERY satisfying. Very worthy rental, great film to watch on a plane (which is what I did!).

Well-acted, solid filming, story that makes sense and is kind of interesting, but in the end, this was not at all compelling for me. It's also visually and thematically dark. First thing I did after I watched it was watch an episode of Archer to clear the air.

I quit watching about half-way through. Tom Hardy's character doesn't do anything and is quite dim-witted James Gandolfini's character is smarter, but also passive.. The action is dull. It's like a character study of unlikeable people.
