The Edge of Seventeen is a new coming-of-age movie in the vein of Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club - an honest, candid, often hilarious look at what it's like to grow up as a young woman in today's modern world. Everyone knows that growing up is hard, and life is no easier for high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). All at once, Nadine feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship of a thoughtful boy (Hayden Szeto) gives her a glimmer of hope that things just might not be so terrible after all. It is a coming of age film, and we all know how they go, for the most part they're pretty corny. But every now & then you find one that manages corny typical with that little bit of magic, humor & feels in the right amount. They're the ones where most of us see our own lives reflected in them . And not just the script but the acting gels & together makes you cry a little, laugh a lot, leaving you with the sense you have seen something that might just become a fav for years to come. Not it's never going to be all fairytails & perfect hair, you may not hit the top of the popularity polls, but you will get through being a teen with some good friends & some people who care who you are. And it also shows how hard it is to really see what's going on around you when you're only looking at things your way. I say well done!!!!

Loved, loved, loved this film. I almost didn't watch it because I felt it may be more for teenagers but as a mother of 16 and 17 year old girls, this was so unbelievably accurate! Especially for my 17 year old, who I think sneaked out of the house to make this film! Made the whole film very emotional for me personally but this film is a must see for most ages!

This movie hit home so hard. Only I didn't have an older sibling who lookef out for me, but still was good. 11/10
