Based on a true story ' the case of Michel is well known among those who study exorcisms. In 1976, the Catholic Church officially recognized the demonic possession of an 19-year-old German college freshman. During her exorcism, the young woman died, and the priest stood trial for causing her death. The script unfolds Rashomon style with different points of view recounting the events. Academy Award nominee Laura Linney plays an attorney who defends the Catholic priest (Tom Wilkinson) who has been charged with the negligent homicide of the girl whose exorcism he presided over. Entertainment is why we watch these movies and this one is definitely worth a watch,well acted and we'll scripted it's based on true events so that adds up but it's not scary it's more creepy than scary. So if you're into horrors and haven't yet seen this then give it go, turn off the lights and turn up the volume and get ready to be creeped.

This movie is about a German girl, Annaliese Michel. I read about the case & am convinced she was mentally ill and died due to malnutrition which could have been avoided if medical help was available to her. Her parents were religious fanatics who didn't let the children attend school or have friends because it's sinful. Dancing was regarded as sinful.It's a tragic waste of a young life. Really well acted, well made film. Loved it.

One of my favourites. I often find films based on true events are stupidly over done which make them farcical.... This is not like that. It actually keeps it to the true happenings (mostly). HIGHLY RECOMMEND. A*****
