Acerca desta película

Academy Award nominee John Travolta plays Moose, a rabid movie fan who is obsessed with his favourite celebrity action hero, Hunter Dunbar. When he is cheated out of his opportunity to finally meet Hunter, Moose gets help from his friend Leah, a well-connected paparazzi photographer, who knows how to find celebrity homes. Moose turns to stalking to get the fan-to-star interaction he feels he deserves, and while harmless at first, Moose's actions escalate out of control, with devastating consequences for both.

This is a bit of an odd one, since it brings to mind King of Comedy, in what I guess could be a newly established 'crazed fan' genre. However, that doesn't make The Fanatic derivative by any means. John Travolta must've had a hoot playing this role as it's highly likely he's been confronted by the odd loony fan in his time. I don't find the 'star' he is obsessed with (Devon Sawa) possesses the requisite X-factor, however Travolta is definitely memorable in his performance. This film, written by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has been savaged by the critics. Travolta appears to be coming in for most of the blame as accusations of tastelessness and insensitivity have been leveled by chagrined columnists. This is not to say that I'm suggesting the film is not flawed, it has deep flaws, particularly in building up to its ending which is morally oblique and feels cobbled together. Yet, it does not deserve the howls that it's come in for, particularly charges of contempt for fans, stars, and everybody who makes up the celebrity food chain. It's not especially realistic but then, hey, this is the movies. It's a psychological thriller. Not the best, but far from the worst.

John does well as moose but is surrounded and overwhelmed by terrible acting from everyone else ,30 min in I stopped to review so maybe I could save you from wasting your money , this movie makes you very aware that there are a bunch of great actors that are not in this movie ,whats with the voice over of the terrible actor girl trying to sound tough or hard or something so annoying , I thought John could have got some better people to play with .This is not worth more than 50c.

Intense, emotional and heart wrenching. John Travolta really sets the bar high for his portrayal as "Moose" and the slippery slope he travels. This film is emotionally uncomfortable to watch that at times it's almost heart-breaking. Fred Durst does a great job in allowing viewers to develop a sense of empathy for both characters and portrays a unique tie between them and their perception of reality, which makes for an interesting and unfamiliar watch. This film is raw, it is what is and the plots in it's name but John Travoltas performance is a must see!
