About this movie

Fed up with fighting a war he didn't believe in, Newt Knight launched a legendary uprising of an unlikely band of poor white Southern farmers and runaway slaves; who bravely stood side by side against slavery and wartime injustices to the lower class. Outgunned and outnumbered, Newt united his small army of underdog outlaws deep in the dangerous swamps of Mississippi, giving his gritty unseasoned fighters a tactical advantage in defending their families and their freedom against insurmountable odds.

Ignore the brain dead critics on meta. So refreshing to finally have a movie come out of the US without the usual violence thrown in for fun, over the top bipolar sensationalism and extreme exaggerated idiocy. The core of this historical film is a heartbreaking story of resilience, real ethics and humanity. It is raw and undiluted without being sensationalised. Be prepared to cry atleast four times during the course of the film and question what society and geopolitics have become after the film has ended.
